31 Days of Halloween - Day 22

Hello folks, and it’s day 22 of the Smeared and Smudged 31 days of Halloween Blog Hop.  All you have to do to take part is to hop through each of the Wicked Blogs that are participating and leave a comment on each project.  All Horrifying Hoppers will receive a Survival Button at the end of the month to proudly post on their blog.

Today's card features Broomstick Bella from the Stamping Chef.  I've coloured her digitally and printed three copies so I could decoupage the image.  The background was created digitally as well .
This is a pull-the-tab mechanism -

While I was printing out the image, I printed out an extra strip of card in the same colour as the background  about 1cm (half an inch) wide, across the width of the sheet.  I cut it out and then cut a piece 6 cm (3 inches) long.

I scored it at 1cm (1/2 inch), 2 cm (1 inch) 4 cm (2 inches) and 5 cm (2 1/2 inches)
Then I folded it up so it looked like this -
I cut a slit in the card and threaded the folded piece though it so that the "legs" were at the back ( a bit like the legs of a brad)

Then I made the "pull" strip by sticking the rest of the coloured strip onto another strip of card (for strength) and glued one end onto the folded card.  (I also glued some narrow strips of card over the pull strip to stop it wiggling about).  This diagram shows what I mean, I hope -

I glued the decoupaged Bella to the other side of the folded piece and then cut the pull strip to size before stamping the message onto the bit that sticks out when the card was pulled.

I stuck the topper to the card with foam pads so that there was room for the mechanism to work.
If you’re following the blog hop in order, you’ve arrived here from Teresa’s blog.    If you’ve arrived from elsewhere and you’d like to work your way through all the participating blogs, the blog roll is in the sidebar – just start at the beginning or wherever suits you best.

Hope you are enjoying the hop.  Don't forget that Scavenger Items will be hidden randomly on the Wicked Blogs, and are not guaranteed to be available every day. You will have to visit blogs to find them. If you find one, you will email and let us know exactly where it was and your name will go into that scavenger item's drawing. Each person who finds the "hidden" picture will get one entry. The drawing for each scavenger prize will be the day after it was posted and winners will be chosen by random number based on who emailed. you for visiting.  Now, if you’re working your way through the roll, it’s on to Renee.  Bye now!

Broomstick Bella is beautiful! As others have said :), this reminds me of the opening sequence of "Bewitched," which was my absolute favorite show as a kid!
